O CF-18!
Our tanks its range extend
Fresh JP-8 in afterburn expend
With flaperons we see thee rise
To Angels 50 see -
Long range you fly
O CF-18, we have no CVN for thee

In somewhat related air show news, the Blue Angels will be getting Super Hornets next season.

I don’t expect the scheme to change any, but I’m still excited to see what a Blue Angel F/A-18E/F will look like.

Interesting, staving off the JSF as long as they can.

Those things are so danged expensive, I don’t see them getting ‘em any time soon. The Super Hornet is still in production, so finding spare parts should be significantly easier. It’s a bigger plane, though. And I read that they will have to rework the routine a bit.

So am I. Should look pretty sweet.

I don’t think it’s that so much as not being able to find parts for the Bugs anymore. It’s probably at least a decade (if ever) before the Angels get F-35s.
That said, I wonder if the Marine pilot would get a B model and work in some hovering/low speed flight to the show....

Too bad they won’t have the Super Hornet by then.
